Kharkhorin & Erdene Zuu Monastery: Once the thriving capital of the Mongol Empire, Kharkhorin (also known as Karakorum) lies in the historic Orkhon Valley, a crossroads of ancient civilizations. Today, it is home to Erdene Zuu Monastery, Mongolia’s oldest Buddhist monastery, surrounded by 108 white stupas, preserving the region’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

Tour summary
Upon your arrival at Chinggis Khaan Airport, you will be transferred to the Bayangol Hotel. The following afternoon, you will visit local attractions and enjoy the Tumen Ekh Ensemble concert in the center of Ulaanbaatar. As we journey outside of Ulaanbaatar, we will spend six nights in Mongolian Gers at six different sites.
Experience the beauty and history of Mongolia on this unforgettable journey through its most iconic sites. Begin at the Amarbayasgalant Monastery, a serene 18th-century Buddhist sanctuary nestled in the Burengiin Nuruu. Continue to the Orkhon Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site teeming with archaeological treasures, before visiting the breathtaking Ulaan Tsutgalan waterfall.
Hike to the stunning Tuvkhun Monastery in the Khangai Range, offering panoramic views and a peaceful retreat. Discover the ancient ruins of Karakorum, once the heart of the Mongol Empire, and explore the Erdene Zuu Monastery, a key historical landmark. Unwind at the tranquil Tsagaan Sum Hot Springs, where you can relax and rejuvenate amid Mongolia's vast landscapes. A highlight of this journey will be the opportunity to see the reintroduced wild Takhi horses and take part in a Mini Naadam festival, making this trip even more special.
Customizable Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to Bayangol Hotel. After relaxing and settling into your room, your guide will take you for lunch. Following the meal, you’ll visit Gandan Monastery, a major spiritual site in the city, and explore Sukhbaatar Square, the heart of Ulaanbaatar. In the evening, enjoy a performance by the Tumen Ekh Ensemble, which showcases traditional Mongolian music and dance. End the day with a delicious traditional Mongolian dinner.

DAY 2

Today, we head north to visit Aglag Buteel Monastery, a peaceful site nestled in nature. Afterward, we will continue our journey, driving on and off-road for about 2 hours to explore Amarbayasgalant Monastery, situated in a stunning valley. This is the perfect place to ride a horse. In the evening, you’ll stay in a comfortable Ger camp, surrounded by the tranquility of the Mongolian countryside.

DAY 3

We will travel through the city of Erdenet and the town of Bulgan on our way to Ugii Lake. Along the journey, we’ll experience the contrast between modern Mongolian city life and the semi-nomadic, authentic nomadic lifestyle through brief visits to three different families. Tonight, we’ll stay in a ger camp by the peaceful shores of Ugii Lake.

DAY 4

On the first day in Orkhon Valley, we’ll head to the Tsagaan Sum Hot Springs, passing by the Khar Balgas ruins and several small villages along the way. While enjoying the hot springs, we’ll also have the chance to hike around the area. We will spend the night at a ger camp.

DAY 5

Today, our journey takes us to two of the most popular attractions in the Orkhon Valley: the stunning Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall and the historic Tuvkhun Monastery. These breathtaking sites are not only incredibly photogenic but also offer a deeper insight into Mongolia’s rich history and culture. Our next stop will be Kharkhorin, where we’ll spend the night.

DAY 6

In the morning, we’ll begin by visiting the Erdene Zuu Monastery, followed by exploring some of the other interesting sites in Kharkhorin. Afterward, we’ll drive to Khustai National Park. On the way, we'll stop at the Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes, where you'll have the opportunity to try camel riding and enjoy some time for photography.

DAY 7

Today is one of the highlights of our trip. Seeing the wild Takhi (Przewalski's horse) is a true joy for us Mongols, as the species was once extinct in the wild. You’ll learn about the remarkable history of their reintroduction as we visit Khustai National Park, where we’ll have the chance to observe these magnificent animals. Afterward, we’ll experience a mini Naadam Festival at the Mongol Nomadic Camp, followed by an overnight stay in a ger.

DAY 8

On the final day of the trip, we will visit the Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex and then head to the Aryabal Meditation Temple. You’ll have time for photography at the iconic Turtle Rock. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner before returning to the Bayangol Hotel for your overnight stay.

DAY 9

On your departure day, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight home and bid you a fond farewell.
