Canoeing on Orkhon River, view Mongolian wilderness and experience Nomadic daily life. For this river tour you will see Mongolian animals like deer, fox, wolves, and various species of birds. You have an open invitation to visit several nomad families and sample Mongolian barbeque and organic milk products.
Most of the paddling will be relaxed and peaceful, but we’ll also embrace the adventure of navigating little rapids in the wilderness. If you love stargazing, Mongolia is one of the best places on Earth to visit.
Naadam festival
Naadams are held in every city and village, with Ulaanbaatar’s taking place on July 11–12. The smaller countryside Naadams, scheduled a few days around these dates, are more relaxed and authentic, ideal for travelers seeking simpler experience. Countryside naadams are easy - just turn up and enjoy, as all action will occur in one area. In Ulaanbaatar, the Naadam events are a little more spread out and need more preparation.
The opening ceremony in Ulaanbaatar, which starts at 11am at Central Stadium, includes a speech from the president and a 40-minute show featuring traditional music, dancing and colorful costumes. The wrestling starts in the stadium about 20 minutes after the ceremony and continues all day. The horse race is held about 40km west of the city on an open plain called Khui Doloon Khudag. After the horse races and wrestling, the third sport of Naadam is archery, which is performed by both men and women.
