On arrival day, we’ll pick you up from the airport and settle you into your hotel. Then, enjoy a half-day city tour that includes visits to the Gandan Temple, Sukhbaatar Square, and the National Museum. The day will conclude with a taste of traditional food and a performance by the Tumen-Ekh Ensemble.
Explore Terelj NP & Tsonjin Boldog – Night Train to Erdenet
Morning drive to Terelj National Park. Visit Turtle Rock, walk up to Aryabal Meditation Temple, and stop at the Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex on the way. In the late afternoon, we return to the city for early dinner. Board the night train to Erdenet and settle in for the overnight journey.
Stage 1 — Erdenet to Chuluut Am Valley (25 km)
Arrive early in Erdenet, have breakfast near the station, and meet your cycling crew. Today’s stage is short but rewarding—two small mountain passes and a peaceful ride between forested hills. Settle into the tented camp in Chuluut Am Valley.
Stage 2 — To Burgaltai River Valley (50 km)
Continue pedaling through Siberian-style forest and remote valleys. You’ll pass scattered herder families and climb toward a higher pass before descending into a wide-open valley. Riverside tent camp for the night.
Stage 3 — To Amarbayasgalant Monastery (46 km)
The landscape shifts as you enter more agricultural land—rolling fields, gentle hills, and a few steady climbs. By afternoon, the mountains open and the broad Amarbayasgalant valley comes into view. Visit Amarbayasgalant Monastery, one of Mongolia’s most respected Buddhist sites, known for its quiet atmosphere and well-preserved architecture. Overnight in a ger camp.
Stage 4 — To Orkhon River (60 km)
Two route options today:
• Northern route: shorter but steeper, wild, with springs and rough terrain—beautiful but risky in wet conditions.
• Southern route: longer and easier, rolling hills and open views the whole way.
Choose based on weather and trail condition. Settle into a tent camp near the Orkhon River.
Stage 5 — To Ishgen Lake (37 km)
Follow the Orkhon River downstream on a gentle ride. Quiet valleys, birdlife, and wide-open grassland guide you to the clear waters of Ishgen Lake. Tent camp at the lakeshore.
Stage 6 — To Orkhon River Bridge (15 km)
A relaxed morning ride to Orkhon Bridge. After lunch, visit a local nomad family. Learn to make traditional Mongolian dishes and try simple national games. Camp nearby for the night.
